Feeling an urge to update

It’s been a long, long, frustrating while since I last updated this blog.  But I seem to be getting a grip again…sort of.

It’s been over a year since I posted and a lot has changed.  First and foremost, I’m now the proud mommy of 5 kids.  Jack Logan was born on July 14, 2010 at 1:49pm.  He was 7lbs 9oz and 19 1/2 inches.  He is just the cutest little thing.

Everyone just really wanted a boy and we actually got him this time. We were all just over the moon with excitement. My surgery and recovery went pretty good despite some hiccups along the way. I also got my tubes tied so he’ll be our last “oops”.

Another big thing going on: we’re moving…again. Hubby transferred his job to Portland, OR and has been living out there since April. He rented a 3 bedroom house in Washougal, WA. That’s where we’ll be living for the next couple of years. It will be a tight fit with 5 kids in there but we’ll make it work. At least it’s a house and not an apartment. The big thing is the actual move, though. We’re getting a container on Monday to pack up our stuff and then they will pick it up on Friday and transport it out to WA. We’ll be driving.

Or, more exactly, camping across the country. Our first stop is to see the in-laws in Missouri. After we stay there a couple days we are driving up through Nebraska and into South Dakota to see Mount Rushmore. After that we’re driving over to Yellowstone for a day of exploring and then onto a stop in Idaho before making the last long leg into Washington. That is if we decide to go that way. We don’t have a lot to spend and still need to buy a tent to fit at least 8 people (hubby’s 2 sisters will be coming along). It is going to be a grand adventure. I wish I had a laptop so I could make posts along the way but I don’t.

  1. Sounds like you are one busy momma.
You remind me of me about …oh…20 years ago, when my oldest was 9 with 5 younger then her. Yup that’s 6.
I hope you keep blogging because I am interested in reading about your life.
    Good luck with your newborn.
Remember…they do grow up and if you think they are fun now just wait.
    Adult kids are amazing.

On one hand I can’t wait for my oldest to grow up and on the other…the first 10 years have been a blur.

It’s all so complicated and confusing and frustrating at the same time. I’ve missed so much as I just muddle through even though I’m always here. Depression sucks. For the first time in 2 years I actually feel awake and aware of them. Jack was a blessing in that way.

I always look forward to the next new stage with my oldest kids but knowing Jack is my last has me latching on to this newborn stage and holding back tears as I realize, even in the 2 1/2 weeks he has been here, that he has already grown and is changing.

Gah. Why can’t they stay that little forever?
