Well, the second week of Camp NaNo is over. That’s fourteen prompts. Fourteen new stories. Of the fourteen, four are considered complete, including today’s story.
I haven’t been feeling well today, so I’m going to skip right to the recap.
Day 14: try
Lucky for Bellamy and Clarke, I was in a silly mood yesterday. So instead of heartache and awkwardness, they get a little reprieve.
Bellamy tried to warn Clarke that the storm would hit before they made it to the mountain. There was a potential bunker there, and time was running out. That was Clarke’s explanation for wanting to leave immediately. Bellamy agreed time was at a premium, but running off in the middle of a rain storm wouldn’t get them there any faster.
Clarke, as usual, won the argument. And, as it often happens, Bellamy was right. Now they are stuck in the mud. Bellamy is tired of being ignored, and he’s tired of Clarke thinking she’s always right. Mostly he’s just tired of life.
He works out a plan to get them free, but nothing about this day is going right. All he ends up doing is getting a face full of mud. And Clarke is laughing at him. She is so dead.
It doesn’t take long for both of them to end up muddy and tired and feeling a little less beaten down. Snuggling up inside the rover to wait for help isn’t half bad either. Actually, it’s exactly what they needed.
Okay, the story is a lot better than that. I really haven’t been feeling well, but I promise a little angst, a little humor, and a little fluff.
Maybe I’ll come back and rewrite it when I’m feeling better because ugh.
He slowed his breathing then pushed her hair back from her face. She watched him, her lip caught between her teeth.
“Clarke-” His voice cracked and he cleared his throat.
She wiped more mud from his face. “What?”
He swallowed hard. “I lied.”
He head moved back, trying to take in his whole face. “About what?” she asked, barely above a whisper.
“About the beach. Because there’s no place else I’d rather be than right here with you.” He wiped a tear that spilled from the corner of her eye.
“Even though I don’t listen to you?”
He gave her a crooked grin. “We all have our faults.”
